{"id":1540,"date":"2019-11-14T20:09:26","date_gmt":"2019-11-14T21:09:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ibulletin.ilisa.ir\/?p=1540"},"modified":"2020-05-14T21:02:51","modified_gmt":"2020-05-14T21:02:51","slug":"selecting-and-introducing-irans-book-capital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ibulletin.ilisa.ir\/?p=1540","title":{"rendered":"Selecting and Introducing Iran\u2019s Book Capital"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Annually,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 each\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 city\u2019s\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 plans are\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 judged\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 and one\u00a0 \u00a0city\u00a0 \u00a0is\u00a0 \u00a0introduced\u00a0 \u00a0as\u00a0 \u00a0Iran\u2019s\u00a0 \u00a0Book\u00a0 \u00a0Capital.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">So far, Ahvaz, Neyshabur, Bushehr, and Kashan \u00a0have \u00a0been \u00a0the \u00a0Book \u00a0Capital, \u00a0respectively. In 2019,Yazd is the Book Capital. Iran\u2019s Book Capital is the title of a plan in Iran according to which a city is annually selected as Iran\u2019s Book Capital. Some parts of this plan have been modeled on the World Book Capital; however it has become largely consistent with the cultural situation in Iran in terms of its executive structure. In the first year when cities in Iran competed for the title of Book Capital, Ahwaz earned the title with the participation of NGOs such as the Citizenship Education Center for Development (CECD). In \u00a0the \u00a0second \u00a0year, \u00a0Neyshabur \u00a0was \u00a0given \u00a0the \u00a0title. Since 2001, UNESCO has annually bestowed the title of World Book Capital to a city which has made a great deal of effort to strengthen the place of reading.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">UNESCO aims to launch cultural programs related to book-reading, thereby create a passion for reading among people. This \u00a0selection \u00a0has \u00a0no \u00a0financial \u00a0prize \u00a0for \u00a0the \u00a0selective \u00a0ones, \u00a0but \u00a0it \u00a0is \u00a0recognition \u00a0of \u00a0the \u00a0best \u00a0program \u00a0devoted \u00a0to \u00a0books \u00a0and \u00a0reading. \u00a0In \u00a0the \u00a0first festival, 64 cities with 390 plans responded to the recall and requested for the title of Iran\u2019s Book Capital. After \u00a0some \u00a0formal \u00a0evaluations, \u00a0ten \u00a0cities \u00a0reached the \u00a0final \u00a0stage \u00a0and \u00a0were \u00a0presented \u00a0to \u00a0the \u00a0jury. Considering the objectives and the evaluation indicators, the jury nominated Yazd, Bushehr, Gonbadkavos, Neyshabour and Ahvaz as the final nominees for the festival. Finally, according to the jury\u2019s statement, the Book Capital of Iran, Ahwaz, due to presenting innovative, participatory, effective, and coherent programs and utilizing the capacities of the private sector, popular organizations, industries, sports and cultural centers, was bestowed the Certificate of Appreciation by the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance \u00a0and \u00a0the \u00a0UNESCO \u00a0National \u00a0Commission.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In \u00a0the \u00a0second \u00a0festival, \u00a099 \u00a0cities \u00a0participated \u00a0and Neyshabur was selected as the second Iran\u2019s Book Capital and Bushehr, Shiraz, Yazd, Shahrekord and Ray City were nominated for the title of Iran\u2019s Book Capital. The \u00a0most \u00a0important\u00a0 reason \u00a0for \u00a0executing\u00a0 this \u00a0program is to provide coordination and cooperation among various governmental and non-governmental organizations active in small towns in book-related activities. The designers and executives of this program believe that such projects can help increase the per capita reading among citizens.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is also justified that the Iran\u2019s Book Capital plan is the first national experience for Iran in this field and that this experience will, over time, bring them closer to the universal criteria of selecting the Book Capital. Iranian \u00a0cultural \u00a0officials \u00a0point \u00a0out \u00a0that \u00a0their \u00a0criteria \u00a0are \u00a0more \u00a0defined \u00a0nationally \u00a0and \u00a0based \u00a0on \u00a0local structures \u00a0and \u00a0capacities. \u00a0The \u00a0Iran\u2019s \u00a0Book \u00a0Capital \u00a0plan \u00a0has \u00a0several \u00a0objectives \u00a0based \u00a0on \u00a0which \u00a0the book capital is selected. They are defined as follows:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<li style=\"direction: ltr;\">increasing the cooperation and participation of various governmental and non-governmental institutions in the field of book;<\/li>\n<li style=\"direction: ltr;\">attracting funds from the private sector;<\/li>\n<li style=\"direction: ltr;\">making the various industrial, economic &#8230; sectors more cultural;<\/li>\n<li style=\"direction: ltr;\">indirectly promoting foresight and planning in the field of culture;<\/li>\n<li style=\"direction: ltr;\">Supporting new and innovative ideas in the field of books;<\/li>\n<li style=\"direction: ltr;\">Decentralizing the cultural programs and promoting cultural justice;<\/li>\n<li style=\"direction: ltr;\">Promoting book-reading;<\/li>\n<li style=\"direction: ltr;\">Designing attractive and popular book programs;<\/li>\n<li style=\"direction: ltr;\">Promoting the cultural management position in<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The cities selected as the book \u00a0capital \u00a0in \u00a0the past years are Ahvaz, 2015; Neyshabur, 2016; Bushehr, 2017; Kashan, 2018; Yazd, 2019.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Annually,\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 each\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 city\u2019s\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 plans are\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 judged\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 and one\u00a0 \u00a0city\u00a0 \u00a0is\u00a0 \u00a0introduced\u00a0 \u00a0as\u00a0 \u00a0Iran\u2019s\u00a0 \u00a0Book\u00a0 \u00a0Capital.
