The Award,\u00a0established in 2002 by the Swedish National\u00a0Council for Cultural Affairs to\u00a0commemorate the Swedish writer Astrid\u00a0Lindgren, is presented on an annual\u00a0basis by the Swedish government and is\u00a0dedicated to the promotion of children\u2019s\u00a0and youth literature in the world, without\u00a0regard for nationality or language.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"direction: ltr; text-align: justify;\">In addition to writers and illustrators, the\u00a0Swedish Prize is also awarded to storytellers,\u00a0and others active in the promotion\u00a0of children\u2019s books and book reading.\u00a0ALMA is given to nominees who demonstrate\u00a0high artistic quality and human\u00a0values cherished by Astrid Lindgren.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-639 \" src=\"https:\/\/ibulletin.ilisa.ir\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/11\/Iranian-Nomination-for-Astrid-Lindgren-Memorial-Award.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"566\" height=\"301\" \/><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"direction: ltr; text-align: justify;\">The Iranian Council has also nominated\u00a0\u201cRead with Me\u201d, a nationwide plan for\u00a0promotion of reading, for the Swedish\u00a0Award. The Plan was initiated in 2011 by\u00a0the Institute for Research on the History of\u00a0Children\u2019s Literature with the objective of\u00a0making quality books accessible to disadvantaged\u00a0children in the marginal areas of\u00a0big cities as well as to the children living in\u00a0remote and deprived areas of the country.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"direction: ltr; text-align: justify;\">Iran\u2019s nominations for the Astrid\u00a0Lindgren Memorial Award are selected\u00a0every year by the Institute for Intellectual\u00a0Development of Children and\u00a0Young Adults, the Iranian Association<br \/>\nof Writers for Children and Youth, and\u00a0the Children\u2019s Book Council of Iran.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" style=\"direction: ltr; text-align: justify;\">In addition to Hassanzadeh and the\u00a0\u201cRead with Me\u201d Plan, Jamshid Khanian\u00a0and Hushang Moradi Kermani (writers),\u00a0Ali-Asghar Seyyedabadi, expert\u00a0in children\u2019s literature, and a mobile library\u00a0program that promotes reading in\u00a0remote regions and villages in the country,\u00a0have also been nominated for the\u00a0award by the concerned organizations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Farhad Hassanzadeh, the well-known\u00a0Iranian writer of over 80 children\u2019s books,\u00a0including \u201cThe Backyard\u201d and \u201cWatermelon\u00a0with Love\u201d, has been selected by\u00a0\u00a0the Children\u2019s Book Council of Iran as\u00a0a nominee for the 2019 Astrid Lindgren\u00a0Memorial Award (ALMA).
