Parkeshahr (Tehran Central Library) Public Library, the oldest library of Tehran City, started its activities since 1961 in a part of Parkeshahr, located in the Sangelaj Neighborhood, one of old districts of Tehran. Upon completion of reconstructing, reinforcing and equipping based on library-based standards was reopened in a ceremony attended by its loyal members and other people who interested in it.
“Book resources on children section have been increased, an also a section has been considered by the blind people,” General Director of Tehran Public Libraries, said. He also said that new rooms for researchers have been designed which are equipped with special facilities and they can use them as their private rooms. With its modern and different design, this library, as the central library of Tehran, owns one of the most beautiful designs for children section. Also another section has been considered especially for young adults.
The public library’s member, librarians, LIS professors accompany the Culture Ministers of and general director of IPLF in this ceremony.
