The international webinar on knowledge management in Iran’s agricultural sector, entitled Capacity Building in the Development of Knowledge Management in Iran’s Agricultural Sector, in collaboration with the Office of Scientific Communication and International Cooperation (ARIA), Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization (AREEO) and The Asia-Pacific Association of Agricultural Research Institutions (APAARI) was held on
Monday, August 17, 2020, from 11:30 to 13:30 in current local time in Iran – Tehran. Given the travel restrictions due to the epidemic of COVID-19 and social distancing, the capacities to develop knowledge management systems in the agricultural sector of Iran
were studied through a series of international webinars with the cooperation of the AREEO. The audiences of this webinar were specialists, experts, faculty members, students, agricultural promoters, and other specialists interested in knowledge enhancement and interlocution about successful processes, models, and tools of organizational knowledge management in order to make fundamental changes in knowledge management systems in Iran.
The statistics on the participants in this international event showed that about 70% of the participants had a professional doctoral degree, 25% had a master’s degree, and 5% had a bachelor’s degree in various fields of agricultural and related sciences. Participants were from all provinces of the country and 12 Asian and European countries such as India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Philippines, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Cambodia, Austria, and the United Kingdom.
In the first international webinar on knowledge management, AmirHosseini, Faculty member of Agricultural Research, Education and Extension Organization, analyzed internal and external factors in developing the conceptual model of Agricultural Knowledge Sharing Network of Iran among stakeholders and planners in the agricultural sector. The foundations and infrastructures of the formation of the Agricultural Innovation System based on the foundations of knowledge management in agriculture were examined by Spisiakova (APAARI).
Finally, the successful experience of development in the Agricultural Innovation System based on the knowledge-based foundations in explaining the National Agricultural Research Systems role in the Philippines was said by Abura.
