The 42nd session of the IranMARC Committee, the Iranian branch of UNIMARC, was held on 27 May 2018. The Committee, as announced by Mrs. Akbari Darian, member of the Committee, addressed the issue of “Developing IranMARC: A Bibliographic Format”. While emphasizing the importance of new concepts and definitions in IFLA’s Bibliographic Conceptual Models and their impact on IranMARC data, she drew attention to the need for review and updating of the changes in UNIMARC fields. According to Mrs. Akbari, the last meeting of IranMARC discussed 623 Fields, 631 Characters, 631 Occupations, and 632 Functions, which had been added to UNIMARC in 2016. In her estimation, “IranMARC: A Bibliographic Format”, a new version of IranMARC, is expected to be published by the end of the current Iranian year (March 2019).
