A cooperation agreement was signed in early July 2018 between the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, represented by Minister Abbas Salehi, and the Cultural Institute of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), represented by Dr. Mazaheri, President of the Institute. Promotion and strengthening of the foundations of cooperation in the fields of art and culture among ECO member states, including through the utilization of national capacities and potentials in the member countries, are among the objectives of the agreement. The Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and its subsidiary cultural bodies have undertaken to assist the promotion of cooperation in the following specific areas:
– Facilitation of publishing the results of studies undertaken in the ECO member countries in the form of books, biographies and periodicals;
– Publishing the selected written works of prominent contemporary authors and artists of the member states, in English as well as in the mother tongues of member countries;
– Facilitation of the participation of prominent authors, artists and other elite of member countries in international cultural and artistic events; and
– Facilitation of convening of joint literary, educational and research events as well as joint exhibitions dedicated to the presentation and promotion of social, cultural, artistic and cinematic features and achievements of the member countries.
